Increasing globalization of the international trade and the efforts to join the common market have led to an increase in the logistic services provided to the companies and in the land-air-sea transportation. It’s inevitable for the companies engaged in this field to raise standards and qualities of their services. Logistics is efficient planning, implementation and supervision of services and products and every kind of information flow related to these, from the initial point of the raw material to the last point that the product is consumed, to meet the needs of customers.
There is a need for qualified medium and high level staff to provide all these qualifications. Aim of this Department is to provide manpower for the sector of logistics and transportation, and also for the management of logistics in producer companies and business organizations. The sector needs manpower of people who are educated in this field. In addition, the obligation of businesses in logistics and transportation to be managed by managers who have expert diploma has been brought with a legal arrangement.
Academic program of the Department is of interdisciplinary quality. In the first year, students have an education on general business administration and commercial information which will form the basis of vocational knowledge, they also have intensive foreign language (English) education. In summer, there is an obligation to do internship which enhances the students’ vocational knowledge in the field of application. Theoretical knowledge and applications in the field of International Logistics and Transportation are provided for the students during the four-years education program of the Department.
Working Areas
Graduates of this Department can work in the planning, marketing, sales, logistics, management, accounting, communication and customs departments of national or international logistics and transportation organizations and in the relevant departments of the organizations where “Supply Chain” management is performed. Therefore, there are extensive working and job opportunities for the graduates.
